Why we review differently

Publishers make games. Players live with the purchase. Our work begins where the marketing copy stops: performance, value, writing, accessibility, and the feel of the full release.

“A score should explain a decision, not decorate a headline.”

Our transparent scoring criteria came from years of comparing ambitious releases with the hours they ask from adults who have jobs, families, and limited evenings. A 9 means the strengths survive close inspection. A 6 means the right player may still find a reason to buy.

We separate launch performance from long-term potential, mark major spoilers before they appear, and keep plot details out of the verdict. Criticism can be direct while respecting the people who made the game.

Every review is assigned, played, checked, and edited by our small Pennsylvania team. Publisher access never buys a conclusion.

Editorial independence

Our ethics policy covers access, disclosure, corrections, and sponsorship boundaries.

A visible rubric

Scores reflect craft, performance, value, replayability, and the hours a game respects.

Local roots

Rooted in North Huntingdon Township

Our reviews come from a quiet road in western Pennsylvania, where long sessions are planned around work, family, and the next community night at the local library.

That distance from the major publisher offices helps us keep a useful perspective. We know the excitement of a huge release, and we still ask if its systems hold up after the first weekend.

Local ownership. National expertise. Every byline carries a real critic's name and a clear point of view.
